It all started from here...

Robin came across a “June Wood Firing Kiln Course with Svend Bayer!” while browsing pottery-related things online and decided to book a place for himself. It was easier said than done — the ticket was quite pricey, and he wasn’t sure if it would be worth the time and money.

He has been aware of 'Oxford Kiln project', but had no idea what it is about.

We first met Svend over twenty years ago at his house and studio in Devon, where he lived and worked at the time, back when we were still in London. It was only a brief visit, but seeing his work and his kiln planted a seed deep inside Robin...

Since that visit, we moved to rural West Wales, built a house and our studios, renovated a few more outbuildings and raised three children, as well as all the things you do when you live in the countryside. It’s been a bumpy and wonderful ride.

Robin began making pottery more seriously about 10 years ago, as our children grew older. He even had the chance to help Svend fire his kiln once, which I’m sure gave a little water to that seed planted long ago...
